Fetus Ultrasound Examination Phantom

This model is used to practise cannulation. There are two vessels, the carotid artery and the internal jugular vein. The internal jugular vein is compressed when pressure is applied with the probe; this is the usual procedure when cannulating the neck. The vessels are located on both sides of the neck.

The design of this phantom is based on the model of a 4-year-old child 102 cm in height. This simulator represents a pregnant woman in the 39th to 40th week of pregnancy and allows the training of the fundamental examination skills for prenatal check-up. Additionally to palpation and abdominal measurement it allows auscultation of foetal heart sounds.
