Reality shock and team spirit: Experiencing the Tactical Medical First Aid Course up close

Last Sunday, the time had finally come: the tactical medical first aid course, which many had been waiting for with great anticipation, took place. A total of 17 motivated participants - a mixture of dedicated members of the Black Ops community and four external interested parties - took part. They were supported by a first-class team of instructors with four experienced trainers and a special make-up artist, who provided an impressive level of realism with hand-made silicone wounds.

A training programme in classic military style

The anticipation was palpable as soon as we arrived and all participants were highly motivated. The entire course was structured and detailed: The participants learnt the most important skills for first aid in a tactical environment, including airway protection, blood sweep, the MARCH scheme, tourniquet system, wound packing and much more. The training followed the tried-and-tested military principle of ‘Demonstrate, Explain, Practise (VENÜ)’, which provided participants with clear step-by-step instructions. This allowed everyone to try out the techniques for themselves and consolidate them through repeated practice.

Realistic with Erler-Zimmer training dummies and special make-up

The instructors placed particular emphasis on a realistic training environment, which impressed with high-quality equipment and realistic details. The training dummies from Erler-Zimmer, known for their high quality and versatility, provided an excellent basis for acting out various injury scenarios. The special make-up artist used fake blood and specially produced silicone wounds to lend the scenario an authenticity that got the adrenaline pumping for all participants. The deceptively real wounds fitted the bodies of the mannequins and actors perfectly and made every move seem even more real.

A community with a mission

The Black Ops community values knowledge, camaraderie and the willingness to act professionally in any situation. These values were clearly evident in the course. In addition to the intensive practical exercises, a strong team spirit developed and people supported each other, regardless of whether they were ‘old hands’ or ‘newbies’. Each participant contributed to making the experience unique with their motivation and willingness to actively participate.

Looking forward to the upcoming courses

The basic course left a lasting impression on all participants and aroused their interest in further training. The next date for the basic course will be announced shortly, and the advanced course - the continuation for those who want to develop their skills further - is also in the starting blocks. This will take participants into even more intensive scenarios and take what they have learnt so far to the next level.

Conclusion: An intensive and practical experience

This course opened the eyes of all participants to the importance of solid knowledge and confident behaviour in emergency situations. The mixture of high-quality materials, professional instruction and the passion of the participants made the tactical medical first aid course an outstanding experience. More than knowledge was imparted here - a community was created that is united by its values and the goal of being ready at all times.
