Coniotomy places high demands on the skills of the practitioner and can have serious consequences for patients if performed by someone lacking sufficient practice. This model is used to practise cannulation. There are two vessels, the carotid artery and the internal jugular vein. The internal jugular vein is compressed when pressure is applied with the probe; this is the usual procedure when cannulating the neck. The vessels are located on both sides of the neck.
